(PTI Photo) KOLKATA: Sourav Ganguly's  Indian Premier League  (IPL) dream may not be over yet as the former India captain on Wednesday said that he is still hopeful of a comeback in the fourth edition of the ongoing Twenty20 extravaganza.  Asked whether he could be seen playing in the ongoing IPL, Ganguly told a television channel, "...Dekhte paabe (you will see). I am keeping my fingers crossed."  There may be a latest window of opportunity for the 38-year-old, as it is believed that Sri Lankan batsman  Mahela Jayawardene  who is the skipper of  Kochi Tuskers Kerala  will leave for  Sri Lanka  in the first week of May for the upcoming tour of England.  Ganguly is tipped to lead the debutants Kochi outfit once Jayawardene leaves for the national duty.  The Lankan cricketers have been asked to return home early to prepare for the national team's to

IPL rule book rules out Ganguly for Kochi

Image
Former India and Kolkata Kinght Riders skipper Sourav Ganguly may have lost a realistic chance of playing in this year's Indian Premier League, according to the IPL rule book. It was learnt on Friday that the Kochi Tuskers Kerala had made an attempt to rope in Ganguly as a replacement player for Steve Smith. Having been ignored at the IPL-4 auction in January in Bangalore, the only way Ganguly could have come into the IPL was as a replacement player. With Smith pulling out of injury, Kochi wanted Ganguly as his replacement but the rule book states that, a player can be replaced at the same or lesser price than the player to be replaced. Smith was purchased by Kochi for $200,000 while Ganguly's base price was $400,000. Surprisingly, Ganguly's base price, initially, was $200,000. But former Indian skipper, along with a few other players, including Rahul Dravid, had increased it to $400,000. If he had not done that, Ganguly could easily have walked into the Kochi team and ful

Shirish Kunder wishes India would legalise 3D-porn movies

Ever since editor-turned-director heard that Hong Kong had made the world's first 3-D porn film, he has been wishing that India would legalise such movies. "Hong Kong has made the 1st 3D porn film! Wish it were legal to make it here," Kunder posted on his Twitter page Friday. Shirish's  interest  in the 3-D technology is obvious as his upcoming film "Joker", which he is producing and directing, is in 3-D format and it has  Akshay Kumar  and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles.

Ganguly to make IPL comeback with Kochi?

Image
Kochi:  Former Indian and Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Sourav Ganguly is once again linked to make a sensational comeback in the IPL with Kochi franchisee, sources have told CNN-IBN. Kochi Tuskers Kerala, who are making their IPL debut this year, is keen to take Sourav Ganguly on board seven days after the kick-off for the fourth season of the IPL. Ganguly is likely to be included as a replacement player for Kochi Tuskers after Steve Smith was ruled out of the tournament. And if Ganguly dons the orange, the Kolkata icon will debut for Kochi against the Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata on April 20. So the KKR fans, who were shouting in anger when KKR dropped Ganguly, are sure to have a jaw-dropping scenario when their favourite son sits in the opposition dug-out. Ganguly, along with Mumbai captain Wasim Jaffer and Punjab pacer VRV Singh were the only three Indian players to remain unsold at the end of the two-day auction that took place in January in Bangalore. Kochi has made worst po

Ganguly set to make IPL comeback?

Image
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who went unsold in this year’s IPL, is set to make a comeback in the fourth season of the T20 extravaganza with Kochi Tuskers Kerala, according to media reports which emerged on Friday. Reports suggested that the former Kolkata Knight Riders’ skipper could come in as a replacement for the injured Steve Smith in the Kochi side, who lost both their matches in this edition. Meanwhile, in contrast to the earlier report, the owners of the Kochi franchise have denied making any offer to the Kolkata icon, thus ruling out a possible comeback for Saurav Ganguly. If included in the squad, the Kolkata fans will see their favourite son making a debut in Kochi colours against the Kolkata Knight Riders in Eden Gardens on April 20. Ganguly was among the three Indian players who remained unsold in the IPL-IV auction that took place in January.

Image via  Pinkvilla Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif became brand ambassador for Etihad Airways in August 2010. The actress did an uber glam photo shoot for the airline. (Check out pics of the hi-flying shoot  here .) She also did a fun video for the airline choreographed by Farah Khan. But recently we got our hands on this photo that seems to be of the same shoot. Don't miss Kat's comfy chilled out look (in jeans and a red sleeveless top) as she digs into a pack of ice cream. Hot pic, we think. What do you think of this Katrina Kaif's photo?

Ferdinand to Man City: We're no sulkers..

Image
hare Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has stoked the fires ahead of Saturday's FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City. Ferdinand has pin-pointed the unity among the Red Devils squad as a major reason for their success in a season where City have all too often been in the headlines with reports of training ground bust-ups and player dissent. The latest incident came on Monday when James Milner showed his annoyance at being substituted during Roberto Mancini's side's 3-0 defeat at Liverpool and the United skipper believes 'sulks' have no part at Old Trafford. "You don't see people coming off shaking their heads, or being disgruntled, or sitting on the bench in a sulk at United," said Ferdinand. "The moment you show a little bit of dissent like that, the manager isn't happy and he pulls rank and rightly so. "He keeps people on their toes. People want to play here. You want to be here. You don't want to be part of any other squad

Mourinho: Man City move 'impossible'..

Image
Thursday 14th April 2011 Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has rubbished suggestions he could replace Roberto Mancini at Manchester City this summer. The former Chelsea coach had already stated he has no intention of leaving Real Madrid at the moment. And having seen his side brush aside Tottenham in their Champions League quarter-final to set up a meeting with Barcelona, Mourinho was asked about links with City. But he told Sky Italia that he would not be moving to Eastlands to replace under-fire boss Mancini. "Me to Manchester City? That's impossible," he said. The Portuguese was also asked about Cristiano Ronaldo's link to AC Milan after their owner Silvio Berlusconi admitted his liking for the superstar. And again, Mourinho doubted his biggest name would be leaving any time soon. "I'm not saying it's impossible, because in football you never know, and (AC Milan's owner, Silvio) Berlusconi can make a crazy offer," he said. "But it must be

The new model will be available from  AT&T Inc and  Verizon Wireless  by the end of April, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans aren't public. The release was stalled as Apple resolved manufacturing challenges, including paint that peeled under heat, one person said. Adding a white model may help spur demand as Apple works on the next generation of its top-selling product. Blatter satisfied with World Cup preparations..

Image
San Salvador: FIFA president Joseph Blatter has said that he was satisfied with the preparations for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. His optimism during a tour of Central America came just two weeks after he said that Brazil was "not progressing very quickly" and that the South Americans were lagging behind where South Africa stood four years ago as it prepared for the 2010 World Cup. Blatter is making his trip to Central America less than two months before he faces a June 1 election challenge from Mohamed bin Hammam of Qatar for the FIFA presidency. "We don't have any problem because we have received positive reports from all sides, especially in construction," Blatter told reporters yesterday. He said construction was progressing well "not just for stadiums but for airports and hotels in different regions." Officials in Rio de Janeiro announced a week ago they were hiring 3,500 extra workers to make sure renovations at Rio's famous Mar

Tablets shrinking PC demand..

Image
San Francisco: Figures released show that the personal computer market shrank for the first time in more than a year due to frugality and a tablet computer craze led by Apple's hot-selling iPads. Global personal computer (PC) shipments declined 3.2 per cent during the first three months of the year in the first slip since the recession ended some 18 months ago, according to industry tracker International Data Corporation. Worldwide PC shipments totaled 84.3 million units during the quarter in a 1.1 per cent drop from the same three months last year, according to figures gathered by research group Gartner. Weak demand for consumer PCs was the biggest drag on the market, according to Gartner principal analyst Mikako Kitagawa. "Low prices for consumer PCs, which had long stimulated growth, no longer attracted buyers," Kitagawa said. "Instead, consumers turned their attention to media tablets and other consumer electronics." After Apple's second-gene

IPL: Fans Make ‘No Dada, No KKR’ Campaign a Success..

Image
TV grab of empty stands during the KKR vs DC IPL match Everyone anticipated it. Right from the day former India skipper Sourav Ganguly went unsold at the IPL player auction, everyone anticipated an empty Eden Garden during Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) home matches. Kolkata was furious with the treatment meted out to its favorite son in the name of a ‘business decision’. Kolkata decided to reply the KKR management by boycotting Eden Garden which damaged KKR’s business. Lowest ever turn out at Eden for a match and team’s owner Shahrukh Khan admitted that Dada was missed. Perhaps Shahrukh had already realised by that time what ‘Dadagiri’ is and who rules in Kolkata. Sourav fans all over the country managed to keep the anger burning and they deserve the credit for making the campaign ‘No Dada, No KKR’ campaign a success.  Sportskeeda was the first to report how Ganguly fans all over the country had planned to start the No Dada, No KKR/IPL’ campaign . Facebook pages and groups were created
